A 1959 graduate of Benton Harbor High School, Mamie has dedicated over 30 years to housing management and has served as a Berrien County Commissioner for two decades. From her years on the BHAS Board to her leadership at the public library that now bears her name, Mamie truly embodies the leadership that has paved the way for the next generation of Tigers. Our next Woman of Impact is Elnora Gavin, a lifelong Benton Harbor resident and a proud "Tiger Mom" who has dedicated her career to education justice. As an alumn of Benton Harbor High School, Howard and Harvard Kennedy School of Government, she returned home to serve on the BHAS Board and lead the FRESH START Coalition. Her leadership has been instrumental in championing our schools. As a pillar of the community, Elnora works tirelessly to protect our institutions and invest in the next generation of leaders.
